After quite some time of trying to have kids we have decided to adopt! We have started the application and are on our way to becoming parents.
When our case worker Sally gave us the adoption application, it was this cute little one page paper with a few short questions. I thought to myself, "Wow, this is going to be easier than I thought." Boy was I mistaken. That was the pre-application. We quickly filled that out and met with Sally; then we got the real application. Oh boy! And I thought I had a lot of writing to do when I was in college. We're talking 100+ essays, doctors visits, TB tests, 4 references, bishop's letter, financial statement, employment verification, pictures, letters, one question after another, etc. etc. I'm surprised they didn't ask for a DNA sample.
Although it has been a lot of work, and will continue to be an emotional roller coaster, we're so excited and grateful for this experience and opportunity. Our thoughts, prayers, and hearts go out to all those who have adopted, want to adopt, and birth parents who have and will make adoption arrangements for their precious children. Adoption is an eternal principle and an integral part of the Lord's plan of happiness. We are so excited to have our family grow and want to keep all of our friends and family members updated on our progress through this journey.
